Does your Victorian business use a fridge or freezer?
Because we have some good news…
Thanks to a new Victorian government subsidy offered by the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, Shine On is now offering highly subsidised (often free) commercial fridge and freezer upgrades to all eligible businesses across Victoria.
How does it work?
This may seem too good to be true but it’s actually an important part of the Victorian Governments energy-saving initiatives and small business support.
Many businesses around Victoria are forced to use outdated appliances due to lack of funds and it’s no secret that the last two years have only made matters harder. Older refrigeration units often have terrible energy ratings and are therefore not only bad for the environment, but bad for the pockets of struggling business owners with rising electricity costs. Modern refrigeration technology can save between 50-70% on energy consumption when compared to the old models still predominately in use.
Shine On has worked under the VEU program for 11 years, bringing you heavily subsidised LED lighting upgrades to reduce electricity bills and lower businesses carbon footprint. Recent changes to the scheme have now allowed us to extend our offering to commercial refrigeration.
Who is eligible?
The current regulations dictate that any registered Victorian business that sells items out of a fridge or freezer is eligible for the subsidy. Certain types of units will be completely free, others will incur a subsidised cost. The amount of fridges you can receive is set by the VEU and is based on the size of the store.
What type of fridge can get a subsidy?
Any fridge that is listed on the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) Act 2020 at the time of the installation is eligible for an upfront discount. These include:
- Food display cabinets
- Bar fridges and freezers
- Vertical displays and storage
- Medical refrigeration
- Gelato displays
- Chest freezers
However certain fridge models can be offered completely free of charge. These include:
- Countertop merchandisers
- Vertical fridge displays

How do I get involved?
Call us on 1300 013 648 or email fridges@shine-on.com.au to start the process. This includes:
- Completing a form which details your old fridge/s and its/their location.
- Receiving an obligation free quote
- Confirming the time of your installation. Lead times are between two and 14 days.
- Installation by one of our contractors who can remove the old fridge for an extra charge.
- Sign off on all required documents, take photos and submit for subsidies.
- You start saving!
